Structurally, 5-MeO-MiPT is closely related to other tryptamines, such as 5-MeO-DMT and 5-MeO-DiPT, and it exerts its psychoactive effects primarily through interaction with serotonin receptors in the brain.
The synthesis and pharmacological properties of 5-MeO-MiPT were first documented in 1985 by researchers David Repke and Alexander Shulgin. Its effects on human subjects are discussed in Shulgin’s influential book, TiHKAL.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that 5-MeO-MiPT elicits markedly stimulating and mildly entactogenic effects, while typically lacking the vivid visual distortions commonly associated with other psychedelics.
